janellE ruhumuliza - LILACS & CHAI, affiliate of embark beyond

Lilacs & Chai is a boutique travel company based in San Diego. As an affiliate of Embark Beyond, a Virtuoso agency that specializes in luxury travel experiences. Janelle grew up on Lilac Lane in a small-town in Southwestern Michigan and now resides in San Diego, California. A former hotelier with a passion for luxury travel and for helping her clients achieve their travel dreams. She enjoys getting to know each of her clients’ individual travel styles and prides herself in being their “personal shopper” of all things luxury travel. Her father from Rwanda and mother of Swedish descent has given Janelle a global perspective from an early age. She spent a year in Argentina during college and speaks Spanish. A warm cup of dirty chai tea latte with almond milk gives her so much joy and of course the smell of lilacs in springtime. Scouting out luxury destinations and experiences for her clients is a labor of love. Creating a travel company is her dream come true.

Kristen Slizgi is a travel designer that focuses on planning and executing personalized trips. Kristen was born and raised in San Diego, California, and currently resides between the U.S. and Italy. When she’s not writing about her own travels or working on client's trips, you can find her planning her next escapade to some undiscovered and off-the-beaten-path destination. She travels multiple times a year to gain on-site experience and knowledge, attends a variety of travel shows each year, and attends educational trips to stay up-to-date on the latest travel trends, hotel openings, and up-and-coming destinations. She loves what she does and is grateful for all the people she's met along the way!

Mary Xiao - Mindfree travel, an affiliate of COASTLINE TRAVEL GROUP

Mary’s passion for travel started in 2014 when she backpacked across Europe for 5 weeks. Since then, she travels numerous times annually and has become the go-to person for all things travel and planner. Her love for planning seamless trips for her friends and family led her to establish Mindfree travel, a boutique travel agency dedicated to curating unforgettable, stress-free experiences. When she’s not busy working on client trips, she is spending time with her husband, toddler and two frenchies. She is a huge foodie and you will most likely find her trying all the new restaurants!
