VisitBritain, the national tourism agency, is seeking a full time Marketing and Communications Manager with a thick black-book of traditional & new media contacts in the travel, lifestyle & entertainment industries. You will need to have a creative mind and a nose for news and sniffing out trends to increase Britain’s brand profile and general buzz-worthiness amongst influencers and media.

Our mission is to drive economic development vis a vis tourism throughout the whole of Great Britain driving incremental visitation, increasing spend and dispersing visitation to all parts of the country. In so doing, VisitBritain supports and grows jobs for 3.1 million people who work in Great Britain’s leisure and hospitality industry.

Based in our Los Angeles office within the British Consulate, the Marketing & Communications Manager, will play an important role in executing our integrated marketing communications plan. You will be managing & delivering campaigns while supporting communications across all owned, earned and paid channels, with a focus on engaging media and customers, through the right channel, to share the Britain brand story and turn inspiration into increased visits to London, England, Scotland and Wales.

This exciting role is also responsible for leading on VisitBritain’s US specific screen tourism activity across all marketing activities in the US.  VisitBritain has had over 15 years’ experience in what we call ‘film tourism’– we’ve worked on titles such as the Da Vinci Code, Pride & Prejudice, Paddington, King Arthur and some of the 007 BOND series of films just to name a few. We work very closely with major studios, local screen commissions, TV networks and international consumer brand partners to ensure that we leverage the wonderful locations seen in the films & television series to drive tourism to those places. You would be our key account manager on location in LA, so experience working on entertainment publicity & promotions or in the entertainment industry will be advantageous.

This is an exciting opportunity for an integrated communications professional with at least 5+ years’ experience, a proven track record of meeting targets and a who knows their way around the US media landscape, including; print, digital, social and broadcast. A degree in marketing, communications or PR would be highly valued and a second language such as Spanish would also be desirable.

In this role you will have an opportunity to travel & explore the best of what Britain has to offer so you can share these stories to inspire more Americans to visit. There is also considerable travel across the West Coast & Central US States and to our main office in New York City.
